Uranium Geology 101: An Introduction to the Fundamentals of Uranium Geology with a Focus on Unconformity-related Uranium Deposits of the Athabasca Basin
Presented by Dave Thomas
Date: Monday, November 28th, 2022
Time: 8:00am-5:00pm
Course Description:
This one-day workshop is divided into two parts; the first will cover a range of topics including a historical overview of uranium exploration and development and the current nuclear industry cycle, followed by an introduction to the fundamentals of uranium geochemistry and mineralogy, as well as a review of uranium deposit classification approaches. The second part of the workshop will focus on the empirical geological characteristics of the commercially important unconformity-related uranium model type as represented by deposits in the Athabasca Basin of northern Saskatchewan. The workshop will include brief descriptions of examples representing significant end member deposit subtypes of the unconformity-related uranium model as found in the Athabasca Basin.
